1. Fjordar

Join the fight for the throne of Norway!

Fjordar Tactical Strategy Game Tabletop Simulator

We here at TTS blog think everyone has a little bit of a history enthusiast in them. After all, who doesn’t occasionally imagine themselves exploring the beautiful historical landscapes on horseback or playing a pivotal role in the political intrigue of ages past? If this sounds exciting to you, we recommend Fjordar from Go To Pieces Games. In this historically-inspired wargame, players take on the role of competing heirs to the throne on Norway as it is racked by a 100+ year Civil war. Each potential heir must master a deep and rewarding combination of combat, area control, resource management, route building, and set collection element mechanics to lay their claim to the throne of Norway. Only by founding villages, warring with your opponents, and expanding your influence can you come out on top. And remember, history is written by the victor!

Fjordar was inspired by the historical events of the 1130-1240 Norwegian civil war and the fact that this fascinating and exciting piece of history is often overlooked. This historical inspiration was then placed over a brilliant map concept that involves cooperative board-building and a collection of well-crafted mechanics to create an intense, epic, and infinitely replayable board game experience. This combination of mechanics and theme is tied together by a design and art style that perfectly matches the scope of this epic historical struggle and is guaranteed to transport you to the chilly Fjords of Norway for your next game night!

The team behind Fjordar has used Tabletop Simulator over the last year and a half to playtest, demo, and perfect their epic Norwegian Wargame. You can see the results in their wonderful mod! Also, be sure to keep an eye out for their Kickstarter relaunch later this year!

2. Legacy’s Allure

A customizable, card-based wargame

Legacy's Allure Tabletop Simulator card-based wargame

We here, at Tabletop Simulator Blog, love a good wargame. This type of game, with its big picture thinking and exciting strategy, is a classic genre that will guarantee a top-notch game night. And today, we are bringing you a new and exciting expansion to the genre with Legacy’s Allure. In this two-player wargame, each opposing player must command a force of warriors, beasts, and mages on the battlefield to outplay your opponent and gain victory! Legacy’s Allure was inspired by the likes of Magic: the Gathering and Dota 2. As a result Legacy’s Allure is a great balance of well-constructed fantasy and deep rewarding strategy. Moreover, this is a wargame that minimizes randomness and is played with cards, not miniatures, guaranteeing a wargaming experience like few others!

Legacy’s Allure is based on the classic strategy of chess. The team behind the game sought to take the accessible yet rewarding ideas of the original board game and revisit them through an exciting fantasy war game. This philosophy has come together to create one of the most unique and enjoyable takes on the genre we have ever played! And with epic art to go along with it, it will be impossible to not spend hours and hours claiming victory over your opponents!

The team behind Legacy’s Allure used Tabletop Simulator to maintain progress during the pandemic and you can check out their mod! Also, be sure to check out their website for their purchase timeline and info on playtesting!

3. Animus

The Draft Building Card Game

Animus: The Draft Building Card Game Online

Eons ago, mysterious beings brought together the power of the Singularity in an attempt to control the multiverse. Their tampering caused an explosion of cosmic power across the multiverse that has imbued you and others with a power…and they want it back. Animus: the Draft Building Card Game drops two players in the midst of this exciting cosmic struggle. This incredible world-building is just the beginning, as the colorful history of their multiverse is the backdrop to a complex and inventive card drafter. Two players must draw from their deck to assemble a team of beings powerful enough to stand up to the creators of this disaster. Each card drawn represents a unique being with a unique set of abilities and interactions meaning that there is a multiverse of play styles. Also, the random nature of the deck design guarantees that no player has a single advantage, it all comes down to superior skill and strategy. Only by mastering the rules of the game can you save the multiverse…or conquer it!

Animus was originally designed as a typical RPG, however, the team behind it decided to turn the concept into a card drafting game that doesn’t rely on deck building. You don't need to spend time or money assembling your perfect deck, players can simply jump into Animus’ intuitive yet deep rules and exciting universe the moment they pick up a deck. And when you save the universe once, Animus’ randomization and ultimate replayability guarantees that you will be ready to jump right back into another cosmic power struggle!

Animus is a project 10 years in the making and is now a fully playable mod on Tabletop Simulator! You can also check out their website for information, release dates, and all things Animus!

4. Reinforcements

Crush your opponents and compete to be the last player standing!

Reinforcements strategic card game online

Nothing is more fun than a party game and few things are as rewarding as a tabletop game with deep strategy. Reinforcements is a game with both! In this exciting 2-4 player card game, each participant takes on the role of the leader of a fearsome army waging war against the forces of your enemies. Players must use cards from the deck to build up defenses and attack other players, while also coordinating color-based strengths, attributes, and specialty cards to hone the fiercest and strategically sound army. When two cards of the same power level are matched against another, both players yell "REINFORCEMENTS!" and draw a card from the top of the deck to resolve the tie. Be sure to construct your army wisely because the last player standing wins the game!

The team behind Reinforcements began their game development as a variation of “War” and evolved into an intuitive yet complex card-dueler that balances the excitement of a party game with the strategy of a traditional card game. Reinforcements’ fast, fun, and rewarding mechanics are made more absorbing by the fun color-themed artwork and design choices. This is the perfect game for a lowkey gaming session or the most hardcore of game nights! Get ready to call for…REINFORCEMENTS!!

The team has used the tools of Tabletop Simulator to create and develop a new version of Reinforcements over the last year and a half. You can see the results in their TTS Mod! Also, be sure to check out their Kickstarter (launching October 19th) and their website.
