8. Beast

Beast Playtesting On Tabletop Simulator One-VS-Many Board Game

About:  Welcome to the Northern Expanse, a place where nature is still unexplored, mystical, and dangerous. When the humans first arrived, they thought they found an unspoiled paradise, filled with bountiful forests, lakes swimming with fish, and cold freshwater flowing from the mountains. But as their settlements expanded and the surrounding forests grew thinner, nature itself pushed back. Great creatures known as Beasts emerged, and with their fangs, claws, and mystical powers, they proved an incredible threat to the humans. In order to protect the settlements, humans enlisted specialized hunters, tasked with tracking and killing the Beasts before too many of their kin perish.

Hidden movement: The Beast uses a deck of direction cards to move over forests, swamps, and caverns, using guile and deceit to hide its track from the hunters. However, whenever a hunter moves over a location where the Beast has previously been, a trail appears. Only when a hunter searches a location or the Beast itself attacks an unsuspecting target is the Beast's actual position revealed. More so, each hunter has but one chance of searching each round, making it a tense and difficult decision. Hunters seldom have full information whether the trail they’re pursuing contains the Beast’s actual location, or if the trail has already gone cold.

Asymmetrical Drafting: Each action you perform in this game is done by playing a card from your hand (up to a maximum of two cards per turn). This means that if a player wants to search, attack or move, they need to have a card in their hand that lets them do that. Before each round, both hunters and Beast participate in a draft for the most important cards. All action cards can be used by both Beast and hunters alike.

Teamwork above all: In order to win this game, you either need to cooperate every step of the way if you play as a hunter, or skillfully outmaneuver your opponents if you play as Beast. On their own, hunters are never stronger than the Beast. Only when hunters communicate, strategize and combine their actions can they bring down the Beast before it’s too late.

9. Distilled

Distilled Playtesting On Tabletop Simulator Cocktail Strategy Game

About: Distilled is a highly thematic strategy card game about crafting spirits in a distillery, with resource management, push-your-luck, and tableau building elements. In the game, you have inherited an abandoned distillery from a distant relative, and are now tasked with bringing your family’s business back to its former glory! Create the world’s most renowned spirits by acquiring ingredients, recipes, and upgrades. Choose whether to age your spirits to enhance their flavor, or immediately bottle them to sell it for a quick profit. Whoever has the most spirit points at the end of the game earns the title of Master Distiller.

Purchase new ingredients and invest in upgrades to your distillery, all while distilling a new spirit and sending it to the warehouse. Once in the warehouse, age your spirit to enhance its flavor and bottle it to sell it for major profits! Achieve the title of Master Distiller by having the most spirit points at the end of the game. Points are obtained by distilling and selling spirits, which results in the creation of Unique Spirits, such as aged whisky, gin, or even moonshine!

Distilled will be launching (as a physical board game) on Kickstarter on July 6th, 2021. Note: While this is a game about making alcohol, it focuses more on the true science and business behind it, not the consumption! Of course, for fans of games about beer, wine, and other alcohol - such as Viticulture, Vinhos, Brewcrafters, or Homebrewers - you might find this game interesting. Or if you've ever wondered how people distill liquor or brew beer, you might find this intriguing as well!

10. Delver: Heroes of Farenwald

Delver: Heroes of Farenwald Playtesting On Tabletop Simulator Competitive RPG Card Game

About:  Players select a class at random when the game begins. Each class has specific stats that correspond with how well they can do certain tasks (Strength, Dexterity, Etc.). Tactic Cards are drawn by all players except the Game Master. The Game Master will then choose a Battlefield Card at random to set a random effect for this round that affects all players. (These effects can be good or bad for the players and change every round).

The turn order begins with the player who has the highest dexterity and moves clockwise from there. The player will then choose to explore the Town or the Dungeon and handle a condensed scenario read aloud by the Game Master. Then they will choose an attribute they have (Strength, Dexterity, Etc.) to solve the scenario in some way. Other players can interject by playing Tactic Cards to make it harder on the player and the player can play Tactic Cards in response. These cards are tools at the players’ disposal to help themselves or thwart other players’ attempts at exploration. Tactic Cards are limited, however, so these decisions won't be made lightly.

If a player is successful in their exploration they receive a Reputation Point or a Glory Point for the Town and Dungeon respectively. They will also receive a Treasure Card that they may keep on their character. Treasure can be equipment or powerful one-use items. The first player to collect 4 total Reputation or Glory Points in the winner. However, you must have at least one of each type.

13. Fight Sequence

Fight Sequence Playtesting On Tabletop Simulator Fantasy, Fighting Card Game

*Note: Many art and graphic design assets are placeholders and subject to change

About: Fight Sequence is the tactical head-to-head card battler about a diverse cast of psychics THINKING about fighting! Players build sequences of attacks and responses that resolve in reverse order, representing the ebb and flow of a theoretical fight the characters are projecting with their psychic powers. Planning your own moves isn't the only key to victory - you'll use your array of psychic abilities to alter when, or IF, actions in the sequence resolve. No sequence is set in stone until it begins resolving!

Mechanically, Fight Sequence also stands as a unique entry into the fighting-game genre; rather than focusing on a rock-paper-scissors, stunlock, or distance/range mechanic, the central gameplay of Fight Sequence revolves around reverse action programming and tactical play. Players take turns playing cards into a sequence as opposed to simultaneous play-and-reveal - every character is psychic, so they're able to SEE what their opponent is planning and react to it however they deem appropriate as opposed to having to guess. However, players' hands are still hidden from their opponent, so the core yomi elements of fighting games are still present!

A core aspect of the character design of Fight Sequence is the focus on diversity - many games, especially fighting games, have characters that are predominantly able-bodied caucasian people, and rarely feature strong, non-sexualized women. One of our primary goals with the overall character design was to emphasize balancing this out. With our unique theme and setting, we're able to include a wider array of demographics in ways that fit thematically than any other game in the genre.
